Feng Shui - A Springboard for a Better Life

Can you think of moments in your life that everything seems to fall perfectly in place? In contrast, can you recall times when you feel like nothing is going smoothly, and you’re constantly swimming upstream? Do you ever wonder why some people seem to have all the luck; the great relationships, the happiness and financial success? All the while, others seem to struggle with it all, never “catching a break”. So… what is luck, anyway? According to Oxford Dictionary, we define luck as success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions.Seems a little disempowering, doesn’t it? Personally, I can’t align myself with this definition of the word luck, because I don’t believe anything is by chance. I prefer to use words such as blessing, advantage, or opportunity in place of luck. It’s the same way of thinking when you hear one say, ‘there is no such thing as a coincidence.’ I believe our experiences happen to us based on the energy we give out and attract; whether we consider it good or bad is simply a result of our own thoughts. We attract certain experiences that reflect our way of thinking. The “bad” experiences show us when we are misaligned and not paying enough attention to keeping ourselves on track, and a wake-up call is needed. Alternatively, positive and ‘lucky’ experiences are simply things we have summoned because of proper alignment of thoughts and actions. This positive outcome is direct reflection of what we desire, and magnetize towards ourselves. Similarly, our luck or opportunities are determined by our destiny or fate, at least to a certain extent; the parents we were born to, the inherent characteristics in which we bear and the major life lessons that command our attention. Chinese culture defines luck a bit differently than the context we are familiar with in the west. They believe there exists three areas of luck that influence your life.

Heavenly Luck

The first is your Heavenly Luck. This is your life purpose, your destiny and your natural gifts and talents you were endowed with. One might argue that your Heavenly Luck is set in stone, but I believe that it is influenced by the other two-thirds of luck in your life.

Human Luck

The second is your Human Luck. This equates to how you choose to live your life. Are you taking care of yourself by getting enough sleep, exercising, and eating healthily? Are you paying attention to your racing thoughts? Are you putting your gifts and talents to good use? Are you challenging yourself to grow and expand, or are you playing it safe and staying where you’re comfortable?  How are you interacting in your relationships with family and friends?  I believe that as you work on bettering yourself, you increase your Heavenly Luck.

Environmental Luck

The last is your Environmental Luck. This is where you live and work and how the natural forces of your environment influences your life and Feng Shui comes into play.  Do you see your home as safe haven or sanctuary? Are things going smoothly, and opportunities coming your way? Does your space support your values and the direction you want to go in life? Do you feel something is off in your space and you can’t quite figure it out? Are you struggling to make ends meet?Changing Your Luck with Feng ShuiAncient Chinese culture believes we can make shifts in our environment that increase our good fortune. You may have been born with health challenges, but a home enhanced with Feng Shui principles supports better opportunities to increase your health. You may be destined to be financially abundant, but Feng Shui may increase your money luck faster. You may have noticed that ever since you moved into your home, your luck seemed to change for the better or worse. While it may feel random, it is possible that you are being influenced by the predecessor’s energy or bad luck within that home. This could mean you need to energetically clear the space, or your home may need Feng Shui to support your energy’s realignment. Once you become aware of what needs balance in your life, you can put the puzzle pieces together and see where things need to shift. Feng Shui can be as easy as making small adjustments towards better opportunity in your life. It helps to improve and correct your odds… it might be why the Chinese call it ‘luck’. A great way to visualize this is to think of redirecting the law of attraction into a building. When the house is aligned with the earth and the life-purpose of those who live there, it creates a foundation of good luck or opportunity which, in turn, helps the outcome of your Heavenly Luck. Your home becomes a three-dimensional springboard for a better life. By connecting to your heart’s desire and consciously aligning your actions and thoughts to your vision, you shift your Human Luck and your Heavenly Destiny. When your home also supports your vision, you’re maximizing the benefits within all three luck areas and putting yourself on the path to the best life you can live.
